What is the difference between a vented and a solid brake rotor?



Vented or Solid?

This question is quit common among Dodge Charger, Magnum, and Chrysler 300 owners. Vented rotors can be easily identify a double layer rotors with cooling vanes in between the layers. Take a look at figure A (first one) for visual representation. Solid rotors are can be simply described as solid piece rotors with no cooling vanes. You can see Figure B (second one) is a solid one layer rotor.
